tom + chee hits the spot
tom + chee (Short for Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese) opened up as a booth on Fountain Square on the east side of the ice rink this past Thursday. I stopped by to see what all of the hype was about; long story short they really hit the spot. They serve homemade tomato soup along with the soup of the day and completely customizable grilled cheese sandwiches. The sandwiches range from your ordinary American on white to blue on a glazed donut! The latter was a bit too adventurous for me so I took one step back and ordered the Havarti on glazed donut. It was delicious:
The donut was cut in half, flipped inside out and grilled. I’ve never had anything quite like it before but all of my skepticism quickly dissipated after I took the first bite. I would unconditionally recommend this sandwich! The tomato soup was quite good as well, it was on the chunky side and served in a coffee cup for easy sipping. If you’re out ice skating or shopping downtown I would highly recommend stopping by!
